Best way to manage tags with minimserver8/12/2023 I'm fine with step by step guides but often assumptions are made that leave me lost. Happy to pay for it also.Īs someone with a phobia of most things IT and computer set-up in general, the statement on The Minimserver website which states "is simple to use "out of the box" fills me with dread! I read this often but very seldom experience it for myself. Simon has said on the MinimServer forum that at present his work is focused on making MinimServer 2 ready for the full range of supported platforms. I expect that he will not start to pull the plug on MinimServer 0.8 until this work is substantially complete. Existing installations of 0.8 will continue to run, but they will cease to be updated and their access to MinimStreamer will expire. Longer term, the downloads will become unavailable, so the only free version of MinimServer will be the limited Starter edition (not configurable and without MinimStreamer). What happens to existing installations of MinimServer 0.8? in the short term, nothing really. Usefully, profiles can be exported to and imported from files You might, for example have different menu layouts for different family members, or you might have one profile for the FLAC library you use with your Linn streamer, and another for the MP3 collection you use with Foobar2000 on your phone. This page also gives you access to the Activation page and the new Profiles feature which allows you to create, manage and change to different sets of settings. The start of providing the promised web-based control interface is already visible in that the page has become less rudimentary happily, like its predecessor, it is visible in Konfig, which provides a useful means of accessing it. There are not that many changes from MinimServer 0.8 to MinimServer 2 the point of buying the new version, as previously discussed in this thread, is to support Simon Nash so that he in turn can continue to support the software. However, as always, you will need to specifically activate MinimStreamer if you want to use it this is done from the Properties dialog, as before. When you activate, or start a 30 day trial of, the full version, your settings from MinimServer 0.8 are helfully copied over to MinimServer 2. When you install initially, you get the free Starter Edition of MinimServer 2, which cannot be configured with your own settings. Installation, interrupted only by an unhelpful false positive from Windows Defender, was, as usual with MinimServer, a doddle, particularly as Java was already installed. I know it is not intended use but I would really upgrade my libreelec experience.Īn alternative would be a pointer to use an alternative upnp server I know there is a minidlna plugin but there is no documentation for it and there is no way to select the music folder in the plugin config section either so that's also a bit of a hassle to use for me.I can revive this thread with the news that MinimServer 2 has become available for Synology NASs and (while I wasn't looking) for Windows too - all versions from XP on, which means that an old laptop somewhere can be repurposed as a music server. I do use MinimServer on Windows (mainly to test the metadata on new downloads before I copy them over to my NASs), so, in line with my previously stated intent, I signed up and paid for a 5 device licence (£40 it's only £28 for a three device licence, which will be fine for many people). Would it be possible to have minimserver running along with Kodi on a librelec install? I wouldn't mind getting my hands dirty but since there is no package management system installed in libreelec or since there are no build tools I have no idea where to start.Ĭan someone point me to the right direction to either install openjdk / oracle java to my current librelec setup? record label tags and such) and I really love using it. Minimserver is a java based upnp server especially designed for audio files, it has a very advanced way to display tags (e.g. I'm currently using the build in upnp server in Kodi but it is a very limited in it's options, and very annoying, in order to browse to my music files by folder structure I have to use the "Video" section since there is no option for browse the folder structure in the music section. I have a rock64 system running libreelec as media device.Īttached to this little box is a usb drive loaded with music files. Dear people, hopefully it's ok to post this here
